Fund Raising and Charity
Today Fr Jim delivered the masses of toys and games so generously given by parishioners and friends to the Stripey Stork Charity.
The Charity ensures that families in need can give gifts to their children at Christmas and also provides items, toiletries and clothing to families throughout the year. This is the third year that Christ the King has donated to them at Christmas.
Many thanks to everyone who donated and helped. It was quite a haul and staff at Stripey Stork are extremely grateful as I am sure the families they support will be too.
You may also know that St Nicholas (Fr Jim) and his helpful elf, Nathan are trying to lose weight before Christmas to make the sleigh run a little bit more smoothly this year. They have been asking kind folks to sponsor them. There will be a final weigh in (at Slimming World) as near to Christmas as they are open and that will be the end of the sponsored period – though they hope to continue losing weight (unsponsored) next year.
Follow the link below if you wish to donate or simply find out more.

All kind donations are also going to the Stripey Stork Charity. £415 has been raised so far…and, for those of you that wish to know, the combined weight loss so far is 23lbs
One faithful Parishioner who did not want to be named has made some beautiful blankets and covers which were taken today to a Homeless Shelter in Crawley, Crawley Open House by Father Jim. They were very greatly appreciated and warmly received. So much so that we are considering doing a Christ the King Spring Clean and Declutter event next year. The idea would be that we all declutter our bedrooms and spring clean, taking before and after photos (not compulsory), and hopefully, in the process, finding perfectly good items of clothing, we no longer need, which will be taken to Crawley Open House. Everyone wins!
There may also be another baby and children’s clothes collection in the New Year for Stripey Stork as there was last year. Please, let us know what you think of these ideas and whether you’d like to participate in the Christ the King Big Spring Clean and Declutter.
Christ the King parishioners also give regular donations to the Food Bank at St Matthews in Redhill each week thanks to the hard work of Sian and John. To contribute, simply bring along non-perishable goods, toiletries, nappies – whatever you can spare, to Christ the King.
Fr Jim would like to thank everyone that gave anything to any of the charitable causes and to the many, many parishioners that gave up their time to help organise things and make them happen.
THANK YOU
